The heritage city of #Warangal is a treasure town . One of the tri-cities of #Hanamkonda and #Kazipet , #Warangal was the capital city of the ancient #KakatiyaDynasty .

The name #Warangal came from the words #OruGallu meaning "single stone" which refers to a boulder inside the #WarangalFort premises .

The famous sites of the city include
#BhadrakaliTemple , #ThousandPillarTemple and the #Warangal fort . These tourist sites stretch in between the tri cities . We started our day by bowing before #MaaBhadrakali . We reached there by taking auto for ₹20 per passenger from the #WarangalRailwayStation . The ancient temple was built by Chalukya king #Pulakesin II in 625 A.D . Maa Bhadrakali was the kuladevi of both the #Chalukya and the #Kakatiya kingdom . It is believed that the famous #Kohinoor diamond was studded in the left eye of the deity . Alauddin Khilji later looted the #Kohinoor from the #BhadrakaliTemple, which eventually passed numerous hands before landing in Britain .

From
#BhadrakaliTemple we walked for 2kms to reach the #ThousandPillarTemple . It was built by King RudraDev of the Kakatiya dynasty and was primarily dedicated to Lord Shiva. Initially the trinity of Surya, Vishnu and Maheshwar were worshipped but the Tughlaq dynasty completely desecrated the idols of Lord Surya and Vishnu . The temple compound holding numerous pillars are closed now as it has been destructed brutally by the Tughlaqs . The Kakatiyas implemented sandbox technique to build earth quake resistant #ThousandPillarTemple and the UNESCOWorldHeritage site of #RamappaTemple . Completely untouched by seismic disturbances , the temples stand as silent sentinel of the profound knowledge of enginnering and the effectiveness of the unique technology . Both the temples mentioned above exhibit similar design in architecture and patterns . Exquisite filigree work can be seen on granite rocks which is reminiscent of a mix of Chalukya and Kakatiya style of architecture. There is a water tank at one side of the temple , where cute turtles can be seen ..
